2025 New Zealand Senior Provincial Championships: Day 2 Results
Central Men, Auckland Women top standings across divisions after the close of the round-robin phase. The tournament concludes with the third and final day tomorrow.

The round-robin phase of the New Zealand Senior Provincial Championships have concluded and teams will quickly move into finals mode after another action-packed day at Hutt Indoor Sports in Wellington.
Both Central Districts’ Men’s sides have booked their places directly into the grand finals tomorrow, whilst both Auckland Women’s teams also qualified top and will play Major Semi-Final matches against Northern Districts and Wellington respectively.
Here is how the divisions look going into the third and final day tomorrow:
Open Men
Central Districts are again the team to beat after going unbeaten through the round-robin phase. Victories over Southern, Northern and Wellington took them to five straight wins and will see them go straight into the final at 4pm local time.
They will play the winner of the preliminary final tomorrow morning between Auckland, who qualified second with four wins, and Canterbury, who finished third, a further win back. Auckland will be buoyed by victory over Canterbury by 27 runs earlier this evening.
Wellington will be disappointed to have finished fourth, as will Northern, who came up short in a number of close contests. The loser of the Auckland vs Canterbury match will battle it out with the bottom three sides for the Plate title.

Open Women
There was no real surprise in the Women’s division with the Auckland side qualifying top, unbeaten with four wins and 15 out of a possible 16 skins to assert their dominance this far into the competition.
Northern finished with three wins and then beat Wellington in the second vs third place match, to set up a Major Semi-Final clash between the two close rivals early tomorrow morning, with the winner going into the grand final at 2.30pm local time tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Canterbury’s defeat of Wellington Development has seen them into the Minor Semi-Final against Wellington. The winner of this fixture will take on the loser of the Auckland and Northern clash in the Preliminary Final.

Under-22 Men
The Central Districts Under-22 Men have joined their Open Men’s side in going unbeaten through the round-robin phase. Victories against Northern, Southern and Wellington took them to five wins, topping the standings, and taking them straight into the grand final tomorrow.
Auckland were also big movers on the day, their three wins seeing them finish just one point behind Central. They will meet Northern in the Preliminary Final, with the winner meeting Central in the final.

Under-22 Women
There was not much separating the teams at the end of the round-robin of the Under-22 Women’s Division, with only five points separating the top four teams. Auckland’s were able to edge out Wellington for top spot, both taking three wins but Auckland going ahead on number of skins attained. Both Northern and Canterbury were slightly back with two wins apiece.
The teams kicked off their finals phase earlier in the evening, which saw Wellington defeat Northern in the second vs third place match by 23 runs, which means they will take on Auckland in the Major Semi-Final tomorrow.
Wellington Development caused an upset over Canterbury in the fourth vs fifth place match; the 19-run win their first of the tournament. They will meet Northern in the Minor Semi-Final.
The winner of the Major Semi-Final between Auckland and Wellington will go directly into the grand final, whilst the loser will meet the winner of Wellington Development and Northern in the Preliminary Final.
