2025 Australian Junior National Championships: Finals Series Explained
With varying numbers of teams in each division, here's a look at what each ladder position means, and their pathway to national glory.
Under-14 & Under-16 Boys
No. of teams: 9
Major Semi Final (1st vs 2nd): Winner advances to the Grand Final, while the loser plays the winner of the Minor Semi Final.
Minor Semi Final (3rd vs 4th): Winner plays the loser of the Major Semi Final. Loser eliminated.
Preliminary Final (Loser of Maj. SF vs Winner of Min. SF): Winner advances to the Grand Final. Loser eliminated.
Grand Final (Winner of Maj. SF vs Winner of PF): Competes for the National Championship.
Plate Semi Final (6th vs 7th): Winner advances to the Plate Final. Loser eliminated.
Plate Final (5th vs Winner of Plate SF): Competes for the Plate (overall 5th position).
Placing Final (8th vs 9th): Competes for 8th position.
Under-18 Boys
No. of teams: 6
Major Semi Final (1st vs 2nd): Winner advances to the Grand Final, while the loser plays the winner of the Minor Semi Final.
Minor Semi Final (3rd vs 4th): Winner plays the loser of the Major Semi Final. Loser eliminated.
Preliminary Final (Loser of Maj. SF vs Winner of Min. SF): Winner advances to the Grand Final. Loser eliminated.
Grand Final (Winner of Maj. SF vs Winner of PF): Competes for the National Championship.
Placing Final (5th vs 6th): Competes for 5th position.
Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 Girls
No. of teams: 5
Preliminary Final (2nd vs 3rd): Winner advances to the Grand Final. Loser eliminated.
Grand Final (1st vs Winner of PF): Competes for the National Championship.
Placing Final (4th vs 5th): Competes for 4th position.
All Grand Finals will take place on Saturday 12th July, at Striker Indoor Sports Centre. All other games will take place on Friday 11th July, at Striker Indoor Sports Centre and Seamer Indoor Sports Centre.
All finals (not including Plate and Placing Finals) will be streamed via Cricket Australia’s YouTube channel with commentary. Remaining matches can be found on Seamer Indoor Sports Centre.
