Australia announce squads for World Cup
Four sides across the Men's, Women's, and Under-22 teams were unveiled at the presentations for the National Championships, for the tournament which is to be held in Sri Lanka this September.

Cricket Australia have named their squads for the four sides travelling to the World Cup in Sri Lanka this September. The announcement was made at the presentations for the National Championships in Perth over the weekend.
48 players were named in the Men’s and Women’s sides with a playing squad of 12 in each team. They will be accompanied by nine coaching staff and management, as well as four umpires for the tournament.
The World Cup will be held in Colombo from 27 September to 4 October.
Open Men
Brenton Brien’s squad will feature just one change from the side that won the Tri-Nations series last year in Adelaide.
Matthew Floros will captain the squad again, which features six ACT Rockets players from the side which won the national title for a third successive year - brother Tim Floros, Brock Winkler, Luke Ryan, Sam Dwyer, and Tyler Hays.
Justin Perkins of Victoria, who was awarded the Alan Wilson Medal for Men’s player of the tournament, was also selected, as was his brother Kieran Perkins, who will be the side’s first-choice wicketkeeper. South Australian pair Jamie Diener and Cameron Bullard were rewarded for consistent performances this tournament with their inclusions.
Queensland veteran Rhys Dearness, who played his 50th test last year, will feature in his fifth World Cup.
In the only change to the squad, Queensland captain Adam McDermott will make his Australian debut, replacing Daniel Van Hees. McDermott’s inclusion will see four State captains playing in the squad.
Five-time World Cup champion Vinesh Bennett, who retired last year after a distinguished career for the Australian side, joins both the Men’s and Under-22 Men’s side as an assistant coach for the tournament.
Australia will be looking to defend their crown from Melbourne in 2022, which was their 11th Indoor Cricket World Cup title.

Open Women
Billy Floros’ first tournament in charge will be a World Cup defence for the Open Women, with a number of changes from their previous series, including three debutants.
Nicole Martin, who was coach in that 2023 series against New Zealand, comes back into the side as captain, whilst Neisha Iles and Emily Vallance from South Australia, and Queensland trio Ashleigh Doble, Samantha Dixon, and Monika Brogan Medallist Meagan Dixon are returning players from that series win.
However, there are seven changes in the squad. Alongside Martin, Queensland veteran Dulane Yohey comes back in, as does Kylie Rattray from South Australia who last played in 2019. Rikki-Lee Rimmington’s performance at the national championships earned her a recall for the first time since 2011.
Chelsea Gan and Courtney Hewitt from Queensland, as well as South Australia’s Taylah Gregory, will all make their international debut on the tour.
Out from their most recent tour are Madeleine Wright, Laura Shaw, Adelaide Campion, Katrina Dixon, Danielle Montague, Ainslee Knight and Ella Baulch.
Whilst there are a number of changes, there is significant experience in their ranks with Martin to play in her seventh World Cup (13 tours), whilst Yohey (11) and Iles (14) will be playing in their sixth tournament each.
The Open Women will be looking to win their 11th straight World Cup title in Colombo.
