A recap of results from Day 5 of the Under-22 Divisions at the 2025 World Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Day 5 Results: Under-22 Men
Morning games
Australia have remained on top at the conclusion of the first tournament phase with a big win over United Arab Emirates. Nathan Kerr led the bowling attack with a five-wicket haul.
South Africa have clinched second spot, after a gutsy win against the hosts, who will be in fourth spot. Both teams will advance to the Cup phase of the tournament.
Reigning champions New Zealand will also feature in the Cup phase, after a mammoth win over Sri Lanka’s Development. Josh Young had a huge +48 game, while Charlie Pawson took four wickets.
Now in search of the Plate Final, England will look to continue their good form after a win over India. They will play the bottom three teams again this week.
United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka Development, and India, will be looking to make a late push to win the plate after tough losses today.

Second phase of tournament
Teams have now played every team once, and will now play three more games against the teams in their pool. Championship points will carry over, and determine final positions.
Top four - Cup phase: Australia (1st), South Africa (2nd), New Zealand (3rd), Sri Lanka (4th).
Bottom four - Plate phase: England (5th), United Arab Emirates (6th), Sri Lanka Development (7th), India (8th).
Australia have just about locked up top spot after a win against South Africa. Daniel Goosen produced a wicket on the last ball of the first pair to secure the skin for the Proteas.
Isuru Sasanka took four wickets in an over against India.

Day 5 Results: Under-22 Women
New Zealand remain on top of the table after defeating United Arab Emirates in a low-scoring affair. With three games remaining, New Zealand maintain a 7-point lead ahead of the Aussies.
Australia have extended a healthy gap in second-place, with a comprehensive victory over hosts Sri Lanka.
