2025 World Cup: Day 8 - Grand Final Fixtures and Preview
After almost 170 matches across seven days, the Grand Finals of the 12th edition of the Indoor Cricket World Cup will take place in Colombo, with an all-too familiar Australia-New Zealand line-up across the board. We have look at what you can expect to see, where you can watch it, and how you can follow the action online.

Open Men
Cup Final: Australia vs New Zealand
Plate Final: UAE vs England
Head-to-Head (Australia 2, New Zealand 0)
Round-Robin, 30 September: Australia 83-72
Major Semi-Final, 3 October: Australia 87-27
Australia will look to claim their 12th successive World title and continue their dominance in the indoor format, when they meet New Zealand. Australia are 2-0 this tournament after defeating the Kiwis convincingly last night in the Major Semi-Final. The New Zealanders then received a major fright from a pumped up Sri Lankan side, before their bowlers and fielders stepped up to deliver a 35-run win in defence of a small total.
Australia are 65-11 head-to-head against New Zealand in Men's fixtures overall, and 29-3 in World Cups. They will be riding a 35-match winning streak going into the final, including all 10 matches this past week, but the New Zealanders will go into the final with some confidence after their fielding display last night, and having received extra court time at a pressure level in the process. Keeping Australia to the 80-mark in both fixtures so far, it is their batting which will need to stand up to Australia's front court in particular.
UAE will yet again battle for the Plate title, and this time will contest it against England, who defeated South Africa last night. Both teams had a close game in their round-robin contest and this should be an interesting match up.
Fixtures - Day 8, 4 October 2025:

Plate Final: England vs UAE
Head-to-Head (Australia 2, New Zealand 0)
Round-Robin, 29 September: Australia 108-38
Second Stage, Cup Phase, 2 October: Australia 136-37
Australia have been dominant, unbeaten through 10 matches, and nearest rivals New Zealand will have to put in a special effort if they are stop them from an 11th straight World title. The 99-run win in the second stage match between the two rivals was the second win for Australia head-to-head at the tournament, and showed the gulf at the time. However, New Zealand will be coming into the final with confidence after a comprehensive victory over South Africa in the Preliminary Final last night.
Sri Lanka and the UAE will meet in the Plate final.
Fixtures - Day 8, 4 October 2025:

Under-22 Men
Cup Final: Australia vs New Zealand
Plate Final: England vs UAE
Head-to-Head (Australia 2, New Zealand 1)
Second Stage, Cup Phase, 3 October: New Zealand 89-83
Round-Robin, 29 September: Australia 90-88
The defending champions had to do it the hard way against a courageous South African outfit, and will go into the matchup to retain their title having beaten Australia in their second stage fixture to go. The teams are 1-1 head-to-head this tournament with both matches having a margin of six or runs in less.
This one could go either way and may well go deep into the contest in what should be a high-scoring affair.
England and the UAE have a chance for some silverware when they meet in the Plate final.
Fixtures - Day 8, 4 October 2025:

Under-22 Women
Cup Final: New Zealand vs Australia
Plate Final: England vs UAE
Head-to-Head (New Zealand 2, Australia 1)
Round-Robin, 28 September: New Zealand 82-67
Round-Robin, 30 September: New Zealand 83-40
Round-Robin, 2 October: Australia 90-55
And finally, the one division where a New Zealand side qualified first. The New Zealanders have been impressive this week and earned their top qualification spot, with 10 wins from 11 games throughout the tournament.
Australia have entered into the final off the back of a comfortable 117-run win over England in the Preliminary Final, but it is clear these two sides are hands down a cut above the rest. They have had three matches so far which saw a close win for New Zealand, followed by a couple of larger margins going in the favour of both sides.
As with the Under-22 Men, this should be a close contest and could go either way.
Meanwhile, for the third time over the four divisions, England and UAE will meet in the Plate final.
