2025 Australian Junior National Championships: Day 1 Results
A recap of day one of the tournament from Striker Indoor Sports Centre and Seamer Indoor Sports Centre in Perth, Western Australia.

The second half of the Australian National Championships is underway in Perth, with 39 junior teams taking the court across six divisions, all competing for national glory.
All six divisions commenced their battle during an action-packed, 12-hour opening day.
Highlights of the day included a five-wicket over, seven games decided by five runs or less, over 500 wickets taken, and 53 sevens hit.
Under-18 Boys
Defending Champion: Queensland
A completely split table in the Under-18 Boys sees Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia, with two wins each. Defending champions, Queensland, sit at the top, winning seven of eight skins today.
Victoria, although winless, got within two runs of Western Australia in a close opening game.
ACT had an opening day to forget, losing two games by a combined 199 runs. They’ll look to bounce back against Tasmania, also winless, tomorrow.
Western Australia’s Evan Clements took a hat-trick against ACT.

Under-18 Girls
Defending Champion: Victoria
New South Wales were dominant on day one, winning two matches by a combined margin of 145 runs. They’ve established themselves as the team to beat, and will look to continue their devastating batting performances.
Queensland, ACT, and Western Australia, all had neutral days, with a win each. An extremely tight contest saw ACT defeat Queensland by just two runs.
Play of the day goes to Queensland’s Ruby Drake, who took five wickets in an over.
Defending champions Victoria have started with two losses, collecting only one skin.

Under-16 Boys
Defending Champion: Queensland
Western Australia have started the tournament strongly, winning their opening games comprehensively.
Joining them on two wins are Victoria Green, who will be happy with their successful chases on Day 1.
Queensland, who were the winners in this division last year, have split into two sides. Both lost their first game, then played each other, with Queensland Maroon winning in a close battle.
South Australia are in the top four, following a one-run victory, and a loss against Victoria Green.
ACT and Tasmania only played the one game today, but were able to take the win in their respective matches.
New South Wales and Victoria Red will look to bounce back from a difficult first day on the court, losing both games.

Victoria have started the competition well with two classy wins on the opening day.
Three teams, Queensland, New South Wales, and defending champions, Western Australia, have an even ledger with one win and one loss.
Western Australia narrowly defeated Queensland on the final ball, winning by five runs.
South Australia are yet to win a game but have remained competitive.

Defending Champion: Victoria
New South Wales are looking impressive early, with two mammoth wins in the opening day. Averaging 162 with the bat, the Blues batted teams out of the game in their first two fixtures.
Queensland Maroon aren’t too far behind with two strong performances, including a win against Queensland White.
Tasmania, big winners against Victoria Red, and ACT, very tight winners against Victoria Red - played just the one game today. They sit third and fifth respectively.
Victoria Green and South Australia broke even with a win and a loss today, sitting fourth and sixth respectively.
Western Australia suffered two heavy defeats, albeit against the top two sides. Victoria Red and Queensland White also sit winless.

Defending Champion: Queensland
New South Wales produced two impressive batting efforts to put themselves at the top of the table after day one. Recording totals of 149 and 155, they are looking like the team to beat early in the competition.
It was a consistent and dominant batting display from Queensland as well, who have started their title defence with two wins. Each of their batting pairs produced at least 20 runs over both contests.
South Australia sit in the middle of the table, after a thrilling one-run win over Victoria, who are yet to win a game.
Western Australia sit at the bottom, but average 119 with the bat, and will look into improve their spot on the ladder.
